Northern Lights, Celestial Phenomena, and Magical Darkness – In the Authentic Village Setting of Seipäjärvi

Welcome to Seipäjärvi! We warmly welcome you into our home!
We’ll start with freshly brewed coffee and local pastries.

Here, you will experience the silence and peace of an authentic, old Lappish village — a place steeped in history every single day. You’ll have the chance to observe the northern sky while lying on reindeer hides or walking peacefully under lantern light, free from any rush. This light- and noise-free village offers perfect conditions for northern lights viewing.
The peaceful, magical moments in the darkness, with the soft glow of lanterns, create an unforgettable experience.

A fire burns in the lakeside hut (kota) throughout the tour, ensuring you stay warm and comfortable. At the hut, we grill sausages, serve hot drinks, and offer local pastries.

Please note that the northern lights are not visible every night, but the quiet nature and other celestial displays offer each evening a unique experience.

You will also see how we live today and have lived for generations. The house holds history, art, and you’ll meet our two friendly dogs who love attention.

Regardless of the weather, life here follows nature’s rhythm. Snow may fall, or rain may patter — but we believe you’ll enjoy your time with us in any weather. You are warmly welcome!

Longer visits and larger groups are possible. Private and individual visits are also available — contact us to tailor your special visit!

Program:

  • The program begins at 8:00 PM at the Old Village Store (Seipäjärventie 1765, Seipäjärvi).
  • Welcome greeting by hostess Virve.
  • The celestial phenomena may be observed from the lakeshore, on the frozen lake (after checking the safety of the ice), or while walking through the village surroundings.
  • The lakeside hut (approx. 100 m away) offers a warm fire, hot drinks, pastries, and grilled sausages — all included.
  • Winter activity equipment may be tried out during snowy conditions; otherwise, equipment is displayed.
  • Local handicrafts are available for purchase.

Price:

  • 2–4 persons: €189 per person
  • 5–8 persons: €149 per person
  • Minimum 2 persons, maximum 8 persons
  • For groups of 10–25 persons: request a quote
  • Group sizes up to 50 also possible.

Suitability:

  • Can accommodate some mobility limitations (please inform us when booking).
  • Not suitable for very young children.

    Meals can also be served at the hut!

    Includes a foot bath and birch whisk as in old times!
