The Story of Feelis
Feelis-palvelut is located on the shores of Lake Seipäjärvi, embraced by six fells and set on Virve’s family land.
Virve has established her business in an old shop building that radiates the cozy charm of a timeworn home.
Seipäjärvi is one of the oldest residential areas in Sodankylä. Known for its Forest Sámi heritage, the village offers visitors a peaceful environment and an authentic northern village atmosphere. The crystal-clear lake, the dramatic landscapes of Seipävaara, and the village’s rich history make every visit unforgettable.
The home base of Feelis services is the former village store, built in 1961, which also served as the home of shopkeeper couple Paavo and Irma Niemelä and their family. The house breathes history and exudes the nostalgic charm of a bygone era.
Virve Kangas purchased the property and buildings, originally owned by her grandfather, in 2023 after having a vision during a peaceful winter ice fishing moment — a vision of a traditional hut by the lake. Amid major life changes, she began to reflect on a new direction, and the answer was found close to home—right in her own backyard.
Named after her grandfather, Virve’s business Feelis-palvelut offers accommodation as well as activity, recreational, and entertainment services for locals and both domestic and international travelers. According to Virve, the core of Feelis-palvelut is authenticity, genuineness, and being together — with delicious food, of course!
